Impression Obsession + Ken Oliver Crafts Blog Hop
Hello everyone and welcome to the Ken Oliver Crafts/Impression Obsession Blog Hop!
You may have joined me from Anna Wight's blog, but please be sure to check out all the inspiring bloggers participating in the hop. You'll find a complete list including links at the bottom of this post.
I was so excited to work with a charming set of stamps and matching dies from Impression Obsession! I created a sweet card featuring the No Place Like Home Clear Stamps, Bird Dies, and the Fence Die.
I absolutely adore the new Stitched Water Media Greeting Cards from Ken Oliver Crafts and of course the always amazing Color Burst! I used a mix of Lime Green and Terre Verte for grass, Ultramarine Blue for the sky, and Orange for the sweet little chickadees. A tiny drop of the new Platinum Liquid Metals added a lovely bit of shimmer to the birds.
I was a bit puzzled as to how I could align the stamped images with the matching dies. I found a wonderful tutorial on the Impression Obsession site here. But it suddenly occurred to me that I could simply stack a clear stamp block on top of the dies and then position the clear stamps right over them. I stamped the chickadee images onto a piece of Ken Oliver Water-Media Paper and used a bit of tape to hold the dies in place as I ran the stack through my cutting machine.

Of course no project is complete for me without a bit of vintage book text! I found the definition for "nest" in an old dictionary and glued it to the bottom of the card. I found a lovely scrap of handmade paper and stamped the nest image onto it and then cut it out with some sharp detail scissors. I love the texture that the handmade paper adds! A brown kraft label from my stash stamped with the "There's no place like home" stamp added the finishing touch to my card.
