DIY Mini Chalkboard Wedding Favors & Giveaway!

The adorable mini chalkboards I ordered from Consumer Crafts arrived and I transformed them into sweet little magnets that double as wedding favors and place cards. I'm so excited about these little beauties that I decided to give away 100 mini chalkboards to one reader! Here's how to enter:

Visit Consumer Crafts using the link above, and leave a comment on this post about a fun product that you find there.
Enter before midnight CST on Friday, February 8th, 2013
The winner will be announced on Saturday, February 9th
Enter as often as you like!

In the meantime, here's a quick and easy tutorial so you can make your own mini chalkboard favors:

The petite 2 x 2 chalkboards have a rustic finish, but I decided to add a bit of shimmer with Inka-Gold Old Silver paint. I'm so smitten with this product! It has the elegant sheen of old tarnished silver and adds such a lovely patina to the wood.

I removed the gold cords on the chalkboard with a craft knife. If you find that a bit of the cord remains, simply gently sand it away with some sandpaper or an emery board. I applied the first coat of paint with a baby wipe, allowed it to dry and added a second coat with a soft cloth. Allow the paint to dry for a bit, and then buff using even, one-way strokes with a soft cloth. The more you buff, the more it shines!

Paper flowers made from sheet music add a touch of vintage charm. These flowers are so easy to make! Simply punch out 5 circles {I used a 1" punch} from vintage sheet music, staple them in the center, and then gently lift and scrunch each layer to form a flower. Attach to the mini chalkboards using a strong adhesive like Scor-Tape or a tacky craft glue, or glue dot.

Add an adhesive magnet to the back of each mini chalkboard you have the perfect favor for all your wedding celebrations! Write the name of your guests in chalk, and you have a place card as well.

Be sure to check out the Back-to Basics sale now through February 4th at Consumer Crafts! Don't forget to leave a comment on this post before midnight CST on Friday, February 8th for your chance to win 100 mini chalkboards so you can make your own favors and place cards. Best wishes to all the entrants!
