{vintage artist's easel}

We spent most of our recent spring break trip to sunny Florida lounging, reading, eating, and staring at the beautiful waves. Frankly, we were beach bums, and it was bliss! I did venture out once or twice though, and one of my excursions led me to Bienvenue Antiques in Destin. I wandered through the store, circling the aisles aimlessly, admiring all the treasures. Suddenly, the irresistible glint of metal caught my eye! Drawn like a magpie to a shiny object, I cleared away the {beautiful} clutter to reveal this fabulous vintage art easel! I swiftly carried it to the checkout counter, where the owner told me she had found several of these at an auction, and I had snagged the only one remaining! I happily handed over the cash, loaded it up in my vehicle, and now this beauty resides in my studio awaiting my next creation. It's perfect for setting up pretty vignettes, and if you tune in Wednesday, you'll see it displaying my latest project!

{Greetings Garland Tutorial}

Garlands, banners, and bunting regularly pop up at parties and weddings, and even in home decor! Put a new spin on these trendy favorites with garland greetings. For the May Arts & Authenthique blog week, I created a tutorial to show you how to make a garland that substitutes for a greeting card. The whole thing fits neatly in a tea tin, decorated with pretty papers and ribbon. Visit the May Arts blog for the tutorial, or this link for a download to save and print. Don't forget to leave a comment on the May Arts blog or over at Authentique for your chance to win some fun prizes!

{Watercolors by the Sea}

I'm dabbling in watercolors these days, and they make me so happy! I love the saturated little pots of color, and the way they magically glide across paper and blend together.

We took a spring break jaunt to the beach, and woke up every morning to this gorgeous sight! Water striped with shades of indigo and jade.

{pink tea roses}

Pink is my signature color! I love it in all shades, tints, and hues. From barely-there-blush to fiery fuschia, it makes my heart sing! These beauties are tea roses from Fresh Market. They just keep getting prettier every day. Fresh flowers make me smile! I just added this picture to my PINK CRUSH board on Pinterest. What's your signature color?

{French General Art Journal}

I was beyond thrilled when I won a giveaway of the new French General papercrafting line by Jolee's Boutique! The products are simply beautiful, and I'm so happy to share the first project I made using my prize, a mixed-media art journal.

I handbound the journal using red waxed linen thread and a french link stitch that creates a lovely pattern.

The inner pages are made from my favorite mix-media paper by Canson, and the signatures are wrapped with French General paper to protect them, and to add a decorative accent to the spine.

To create the journal I used the packaging from the Bleu Fabric Remnants as the base for the cover. It looks and feels like linen! The packaging was cut to size and then covered with a piece of Adhesive Fabric, and topped with a sheet from the Bleu Fabric Remnants. The signatures were wrapped with a paper from the Red Paper Pad, and stickers from the Alphabet Pack were perfect for the title on the cover! You can see the entire collection at the French General website.

I still have lots of beautiful papercrafting goodies to work with, so I'll be posting more projects as soon as they are ready. Thanks again to French General & Jolee's Boutique for these inspiring products!

{dreaming by the sea}

For whatever we lose

{like a you or a me}

it's always ourselves

we find in the sea.

                                -e.e. cummings

I'm drifting away on seawashed dreams, lulled by the sound of the waves and the gray blue hues of the ocean. My favorite place to relax, refresh, and renew my creative spirit.
