Kettle Corn Day

All I did today was make a batch of kettle corn in my beloved red Whirley Pop stovetop popcorn maker. Wait! I also ate the entire batch! It was scrumptious and so easy to do. Just fill the Whirley Pop (or whatever pan you use for stovetop popcorn) with 1/3 cup of unpopped kernels, 2 tbsp. of oil ( I prefer peanut oil) and 1/4 cup of sugar. Place on medium heat and stir constantly for about 3 minutes or so until most of the kernels have popped. Pour into a bowl, allow to cool for about a minute, then sprinkle with kosher salt. Yum! This was my only accomplishment today, so I felt compelled to share it. Hopefully tomorrow will be more productive, but if not I have more popcorn just waiting to be popped and devoured!

  1. I have an easier recipe - Remove plastic wrapper; place in microwave; push "popcorn" button. HOWEVER, I'll bet yours was WAY more tasty!

  5. The Whirley Pop is so easy to use and it does taste way better than microwave! And there are no weird ingredients! I think cinnamon would be a great addition! I bought my Whirley Pop at Kitchen Affairs in Evansville, IN, but if you click on the link in this post it will take you to an online vendor. It's also available on amazon.com
It would make a wonderful gift!! I like to use amish baby popcorn that I also purchase at Kitchen Affairs. I noticed a link for that on amazon as well. Enjoy!

  6. I love those poppers. I've burned up two in my lifetime. Think I need to go out and get another one. I love popcorn but it's not something I eat anymore unless I stopped by Rural King!
